Sante Fe Spring Arts Festival

Music and Dance on Two Stages Enliven SF Spring Arts Festival April 1-2, 2017

African drumming and American folk music…big band, jazz, and rhythm and blues sounds… ballet, hip-hop and Irish dances...barbershop and elementary school choruses. All these and more will enliven your visit to the 48th annual Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival in downtown Gainesville on Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2, 2017.

The entertainment takes place on two stages, the Garden Stage at the Thomas Center and the Bo Diddley Community Plaza.

“The entertainment schedule reflects the tremendous diversity of our area,” said Raul Villarreal, coordinator of Cultural Programs for the college. “There is a rich mix of talented performers and something for everyone to enjoy.”

The headliners this year are Gainesville’s own GrüvTherapy and Elio’s Quartet. GrüvTherapy opens the late afternoon concert at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, on the Garden Stage. At 6:30 p.m., Elio’s Quartet performs at the same venue.

Elio’s Quartet is an internationally recognized group that was founded in Fort Lauderdale. With roots in Afro-Cuban Latin jazz, the group performs an innovative mixture of styles and sounds ranging from smooth jazz through gospel, swing, funk, and classical music. The quartet won the 2009 International Jazz Festival “Jojazz” in Havana, Cuba.

One of GrüvTherapy’s founders is SF Registrar Mike Hutley. The band’s sound has been described as “ruff-neck jazz” and as “urban jazz/neo soul—mature, smooth and sexy while vibrant and full of energy.”

The entertainment schedule is as follows. For more information, contact Raul Villarreal at or 352-395-5355.
