Morningbell is Gainesville Florida's own melodic, multi-layered, psychedelic rock quartet. The band has rooted themselves as a well-established tradition in the Florida music scene and beyond. They return to “Free Fridays” at Bo Diddley Plaza in downtown Gainesville Friday, Sept. 13 from 8-10 p.m. Morningbell has been critically acclaimed and featured in Bonnaroo, MTV's The Real World Sydney, Blender Magazine, Pitchfork Media, The Washington Post, and Americana UK.
According to band member Travis Atria, “Morningbell has spent fifteen years traveling, sometimes literally touring the country, sometimes metaphorically tearing through genres and styles over the course of six albums and half a dozen EPs. But, Gainesville has always been and will always be the band's home.”
Morningbell features Travis Atria (guitar, vocals), Eric Atria (bass), Stacie Atria (keyboards), and Chris Hillman (drums). They are a little bit rock and roll, a little bit soul, and a little bit everything else, with influences ranging from the Beatles and the Flaming Lips, to Curtis Mayfield and Al Green, to bossa nova and world music. All of these influences can be heard on the band's tour de force 2009 album, “Sincerely, Severely”, which iTunes called "impossible to classify or resist." At their “Free Fridays” concert, Morningbell will release a limited-edition, remixed/remastered 10th Anniversary LP of the album. The band will also perform the album, in its entirety for the first time.
